Latin help for the exact textbook your student is using
Every Latin program teaches the language in a different order, with different vocabulary, at a different pace. Help that ignores the textbook creates more confusion than it fixes. Superstudy’s Latin tutors are credentialed classroom teachers who have taught from every major program below. Tell us the book and the chapter; the tutor picks up exactly where your student’s class is.

The textbooks we teach from
Wheelock’s Latin
The classic grammar-first course, standard in high schools, homeschools, and colleges. Wheelock moves fast and assumes the memorization sticks — students who fall behind on principal parts or the case system by chapter 10 rarely catch up without help. Our tutors know the chapter sequence cold and rebuild the foundation while keeping pace with the current assignment.
Ecce Romani
A reading-based series built around the story of a Roman family, common in middle and high schools. Its strength — grammar absorbed through continuous reading — is also its trap: students can follow the story while quietly losing the grammar underneath it, and the gap surfaces on tests. We make the grammar explicit without losing the reading.
Suburani
The most popular of the current generation of Latin courses — a story-driven series set in the Subura, Rome’s crowded working-class quarter, with a digital platform alongside the books. Its immersive, reading-first design keeps students engaged, but the grammar arrives through the story rather than as a system, and students who need the system spelled out can quietly fall behind while still enjoying the class. Our tutors teach Suburani’s sequence explicitly — same story, visible scaffolding.
Cambridge Latin Course
The Caecilius-in-Pompeii series, beloved by students and light on explicit grammar drill by design. Students moving from Cambridge into an author-based upper level — or transferring to a school using a grammar-first book — often discover the gaps all at once. We bridge that transition deliberately.
Lingua Latina per se Illustrata
Ørberg’s fully-immersive course, written entirely in Latin, favored by classical schools and homeschoolers. It rewards patient rereading and punishes skimming. Our tutors teach it the way it’s meant to be taught — in Latin, through the text — rather than translating it into a conventional grammar course.
Latin for the New Millennium
A modern hybrid of reading and grammar, increasingly common in high schools. Its pace through the subjunctive in the second volume is where students most often stall; we slow that stretch down and drill it properly.
Jenney’s Latin
Not sure the textbook is the problem? If your student is stalling on the subjunctive or participles, that is usually a Latin 2 foundation issue. If they are working toward the exam, see our AP Latin tutoring.
A thorough, traditional grammar series still used in many independent schools. Dense chapters and long vocabulary lists make it one of the harder books to self-rescue from — targeted help early beats triage later.
