Common SSAT Questions
The SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test) is used by many independent schools. The Middle Level is for students applying to grades 6-8; the Upper Level is for students applying to grades 9-12. We prep for both levels.
The SSAT reports percentile scores comparing your child to other test-takers of the same grade and gender over the past three years. Unlike the ISEE, wrong answers cost a quarter point — so guessing strategy matters, and we teach it.
Most families start 3-4 months before the test date. Fall test dates for winter applications are most common, which means summer or early-fall prep works well.
It depends on the schools they’re applying to — check which test each school prefers. The tests overlap heavily, and our tutors prep for both, so if your list includes both types of schools we can cover the two together efficiently.
